In 1998, OSHA passed the new 1910.134 Respiratory Protection Amendment and the Fire Brigade Standard 1910.156 . Both of these amendments made it mandatory for fire departments to have annual Fit Testing and regular medical exams for firefighters that wear SCBAs.
Med Compass currently provides these exams to over 500 of the 800 fire departments in the state of Minnesota. The SCBA User Exam Package and the Quantitative Fit testing that Med Compass provides to these departments satisfies the medical portion of the OSHA Fire Brigade amendment.
